Theology
Grace
Unmerited favor from God; the free and undeserved gift of salvation that God offers to humanity through faith in Jesus Christ. Grace cannot be earned through works but is given freely by God's love.
Salvation
Deliverance from sin and its consequences through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation includes forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and the promise of eternal life.
Covenant
A solemn agreement or promise between God and His people. The Bible describes several covenants, including those with Noah, Abraham, Moses, and the New Covenant through Jesus Christ.
Faith
Complete trust and confidence in God and His promises. Biblical faith involves believing in what is not seen and acting on that belief. It is the foundation of the Christian life.
Redemption
The act of being bought back or rescued from bondage. In the Bible, redemption refers to Christ's sacrifice that frees humanity from the slavery of sin through His blood.
Holy Spirit
The third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is God's presence in the world and in believers. He convicts of sin, guides into truth, and empowers Christians for service.
Gospel
The 'good news' of salvation through Jesus Christ. The gospel message is that God sent His Son to die for our sins and rise again, offering forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe.
Sin
Any thought, word, or action that violates God's law and falls short of His perfect standard. Sin separates humanity from God and is the reason we need salvation through Christ.
Repentance
A complete change of mind and heart that turns away from sin and toward God. True repentance involves genuine sorrow for sin and a commitment to live differently.
